Tadd Petersen, our primary consultant, is the founding farmer of Seminary Hill Farm. During his time there, he initiated, directed, developed and managed all operations of a ten acre sustainable market farm. The farm obtained its organic certification within the first three years and eventually transitioned to “Certified Naturally Grown.” He was responsible for the construction of three high tunnels, one greenhouse and the design and development of the field production space. Through strategic business planning, Tadd partnered with local farms within the area to develop a successful multi-farm CSA program. He also reformed the campus’ culinary program by creating a menu focused on seasonal, hyper-local ingredients. He collaborated with various campus departments to plan and execute catered events featuring locally sourced ingredients for up to 600 people. In 2019, Tadd’s role transitioned to the consulting director for the farm through Harvest Design Co and he was involved in the recruitment of the new farm manager. He continued working as a consultant for one year until all parties involved were confident the in the new management of the farm.
